1. Information we collect
We collect two kinds of information. First, what you give us: when you fill out a form on this site (contact, volunteer, feedback, or — in the future — donate) we keep whatever you typed, which can include your name, email, phone if you included it, neighborhood, and the message itself. Second, what your browser sends automatically: your IP address (which we store only as a one-way cryptographic hash for abuse mitigation), your browser type, the language you have selected, the time of your visit, and the page that referred you to us, if any.
2. How we use the information
We use the information you provide to write back to you, schedule volunteer shifts, send campaign updates if you opted in, process donations if you made one, and meet our reporting obligations under Florida campaign-finance law. We use the browser-side information to keep the site reliable, to remember your language preference between visits, and to detect patterns of automated abuse.
3. Donations
Donations are processed by a regulated third-party payment provider. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers. We do retain the donation record (donor name, address, employer, occupation, amount, and date) for the period required by Florida campaign-finance law, and we report to the appropriate election authority what the law requires us to report.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
This site uses a small set of cookies — at minimum, one to remember whether you prefer English or Spanish so we can serve the right version on your next visit. We do not use ad-tracking cookies, and we do not sell, rent, or otherwise share your cookie data with advertisers. See our Cookies Policy for the details.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your information. We share it only in these situations: with the service providers we use to run the site (hosting, email delivery, donation processing — each contractually limited to using your data on our behalf); when we are required to share it by law, court order, or campaign-finance reporting rules; and inside the campaign team, where access is restricted to people with a legitimate operational need.
6. Data security
We protect data submitted to this site with HTTPS / TLS encryption in transit, and we store form submissions in a managed database with role-based access. IP addresses are hashed one-way before storage, so even a database breach cannot recover the visitor’s original IP. No online system is one hundred percent secure, but we treat your information as if it were our own. See our SSL / Security Policy for more.
7. Third-party websites
This site links to other websites — donation processors, social media, news outlets, government pages. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review their own privacy policies before sharing personal information with them.
8. Children’s privacy
This site is not directed at children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under thirteen. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us information through this site, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Your rights and choices
You can ask us, at any time, to (a) tell you what information we hold about you, (b) correct anything that is inaccurate, (c) delete information we do not have a legal obligation to keep, or (d) stop sending you campaign communications. Email [email protected] and we will respond within thirty days. We will continue to retain whatever Florida campaign-finance law requires us to retain, for the period the law requires.
10. Updates to this policy
We may update this policy when the site changes or when the law changes. We will post the new version on this page and revise the "effective date" at the top. Material changes will be flagged on the site’s home page for at least thirty days after they take effect.
